Full Stack Web Developer: The Future Unicorn

So why are these Full Stack developers more valuable to employers?

It’s simple: they can do more. They can build complete products and allow a company to react faster; they have a greater level of expertise, that a company needs to stay ahead of today’s curve. A developer who knows both back-end and front-end technologies is one step ahead of the rest, and set you up with the full set of skills you need to excel in your role. In addition, from an employer’s point-of-view, it’s a considerable cost-savings to hire one person versus two or three staff to do the same work.

In particular, RED Academy’s Full Stack Developer Program focuses on what the industry wants right now—JavaScript. Students begin learning the ins and out of the JavaScript language in the second week of the program, and continue working with it right through the end.

Specifically, students start by learning basic JS and jQuery, followed a week-long deep-dive into the new ES2015 syntax. Next students learn how to build out websites using WordPress as a content management system, along with best practices for using JavaScript in WordPress, and in conjunction with its new REST API.

Students also gain exposure to relevant JS frameworks and libraries including Angular 2 and React. The second half of the Full Stack program focuses heavily on using React to build front-end user interfaces, with Node.js-powered back-ends using Express and Meteor.

Lastly, students will take their web-based JS skills and apply them to building cross-platform native mobile applications for iOS and Android using React Native.

In addition, students receive continuous mentorship, are taught by leading industry experts, develop soft skills, and work on real projects to build their portfolios. Plus, they will be setting themselves up with the foundational knowledge to jump start their careers.
