RED Academy London are hosting a Careers in Tech event featuring a panel of experts from the fields of user experience design, talking about their career journey and how they’ve reached where they are today. The inspiring panel will be around before and after the discussion for attendees to ask questions and socialise, so come and get techo with prosecco!

Spaces are limited so don’t miss out, RSVP here.

Panelist include:

Jennifer Quigley-Jones

Jennifer worked at YouTube before founding her own social media marketing company, Digital Voices Ltd. She travels internationally to advise brands on digital marketing strategies and educate companies on the importance of online presence.

Whilst at Google, she taught UK creators and brands to grow organically – without spending money on advertising. The role involved data analysis to strategically advise brands on video – at the cutting edge of media and advertising. She advised over 500 partners from a variety of industries – from The Economist to UNHCR, to music labels and even Facebook prankster Ben Phillips, on brand strategies, taking into account their business objectives.

Prior to YouTube, she completed her Master’s at Harvard University in Middle Eastern Studies, on a generous full scholarship from the Kennedy Memorial Trust. Whilst there, she specialised in the Syrian crisis and worked with many non-profits and social enterprises, including the International Committee of the Red Cross and the United Nations.

Emem Rita Usanga

Emem spent far too long in the advertising game traversing magazines, events and online before moving into the tech side of the business. She started her career at Haymarket Publishing back in the day before computers were commonplace in the office. She’s worked at two WPP companies and in six start-ups, two of which were her own (ticked all the Founder mistakes boxes in the process). Her nosiness and belligerence eventually brought her to UX. Emem is now a UX Consultant, Founder of Bnkability (yes, the startup bug truly bit) and doer of far too many things.

Tom Cotterill

Is a London-based User Experience Design Recruiter with a huge passion for Psychology and Personal Development. In the overwhelmingly saturated market of recruiters, he differentiates himself by having a genuine interest in everything UX, attending courses, reading books and helping put together events that the UX industry is interested in.

Tom understands his responsibility to serve the UX community and the importance of placing people in great jobs as this has a massive effect on their careers and families; something he feels immensely proud to help with.

Nick Jonsson

Nick has been taking things apart to see how they work since he started programming, and moved to 3D animation through scripting. With the availability of the internet, he found a way to combine these with web design and has been doing so since 1998. In 2006 he formalized his way of working through user centered design and development.

His experiences both professionally and personally allow him to blend User Experience, Design and Front End Development to make himself a Creative Technologist. His background allows him to communicate and work effectively with any team, from any location and bring value to the project by pushing it further in an efficient agile manner.

Nick enjoys solving problems, working closely with Developers and Designers, and he is often the go to person for complex projects that often seem out of reach to find an elegant, efficient, and innovative solution.

We look forward to welcoming you on Wednesday!
