Thinking About Becoming An Instructor?

So you’re a designer, developer, or marketer, and you are considering teaching. Maybe you are hesitant because this isn’t something that you’ve done before and you are wondering if you can do it. You should know that most of our instructors had no previous experience teaching when they joined RED. They are pros, not profs. We offer instructional training workshops and continuous support to develop our instructors to their full potential.

Whether you’re considering joining on a part-time or a full-time basis, one thing that all our instructors agree on is that teaching has hugely boosted their competency level, from both a technical and soft-skills perspective.

Some of our full-time instructors like to see this as a sabbatical from the industry. They join, do a year here, and then go back to be a designer, marketer or developer. During their time at RED, they, of course, teach and mentor students, but they also contribute to informing and developing the curriculum to help to keep it radically relevant.

If you’d like to know more about what it’s like to teach here, please don’t hesitate to apply to the job postings linked below, and note that we are always on the lookout for good people, so feel free to contact us even though you don’t see a job posting. You can email our Director of Programs, Julie Tremblay at julie@redacademy.com if you are interested in finding out more.

“Teaching is the ultimate soft-skills bootcamp. I’m a way better communicator, I’m a much more seasoned mentor, and I know a whole lot more about design than I did a year ago.”

- Julie Tremblay, Director of Programs, former Associate Creative Director at Pound & Grain
