Real World Projects, Real World Impact

Through our Community Partner Program, students get to work with small and big charities, businesses, entrepreneurs, start-ups and everything in between. Through this enriching experience, we guide themĀ on how to best communicate with clients to help them gain the skills required for leading client-facing projects. If you are out to create an impact in the world, and are looking for a website, an app, or a marketing strategy, RED students are coached and trained to work with you as their client, to produce industry-quality work.

Based on your answers, we suggest that you apply for the following project:

App Design & Development

Project Snapshot

This project is perfect for non-profits, entrepreneurs, start-ups and organizations seeking to get a mobile app designed and developed. Our UX & UI design students will work with you to assess your goals, and the goals of the people who will use the app to create a human-centric solution which will bring true value to your organization.
Upon the completion of the design sprint, your project may also be selected to be coded by our App Development students.

Eligibility Criteria

In order to enter the program, you must be willing to commit to the following:
- Be available for a quick phone call with the instructor to determine the scope of the project;
- Come to the school for a kick-off meeting (date TBA);
- Provide students with 5-15 contacts of your target market so that they can conduct surveys and consumer research;
- Be responsive to student queries throughout the duration of the project (5 hours a week);
- Be present on site for the final presentation (date TBA);

Project Timeline

Week 1:
Project kickoff, user research and mood-boarding

Week 2:
Prototyping, logo and style guide design

Week 3:
Design of all screens, final presentation

Week 4 - 7:
Development sprint (if your project is selected)

Expected Possible Deliverables

- High-fidelity prototype of the app (wireframes)

Website Design & Development

Project Snapshot

This project is perfect for non-profits, entrepreneurs, start-ups and organizations seeking to get a responsive website designed and developed. Our UX & UI design students will work with you to assess your goals, and the goals of the people who will use the website to create a human-centric solution which will bring true value to your organization.

Eligibility Criteria

This is a website redesign project, meaning that in order to be selected, your organization must currently have a website which our students will be able to access. Other selection criteria include the breadth of scope, volume of content, and flexibility to explore with the visual identity of the brand. Our UI & Communication Design students are asked to develop a strong rationale for aesthetic decisions around colour, typography, iconography, etc. so being open minded to the look and feel of the website is expected from our Community Partners.

Project Snapshot

Students create a digital marketing strategy specifically for a business that sells products or services online. The focus of the strategy is to increase online sales transactions through website optimization, content and social media strategies and paid advertising.

If you think that your project is a fit, you can apply immediately by filling out the appropriate form in the section above.

Step 3

Get Your Project Approved

Once your application has been submitted, our instructors will review and select the projects which are a better fit for our students and you will be notified accordingly.

Step 4

Meet The Instructors

If your project is selected, you will be invited to come meet the instructors at our Community Partners kickoff session. During this meeting, they will give you more details on what to expect, and guide you through the next steps.
